Powder is what makes a brow look full
A pencil draws lines. Powder lays down a soft veil of colour between the hairs you already have, and that is what your eye reads as density. It is why a brow can look considerably fuller without a single visible mark on it. Because there is no edge anywhere, there is also nothing to go wrong: a heavy hand with powder still looks soft, where a heavy hand with pencil looks drawn.

Two shades, and a reason for each
The technique that works now uses two tones. A lighter shade builds gentle fullness through the body of the brow, mimicking the density of a naturally full one. A deeper shade adds definition at the arch and through the tail, where a brow needs weight to lift the eye. Taupe and Deep Brown do exactly that, alone or layered, and between them they cover blonde through to brunette.

Seventy per cent organic, and no talc anywhere
The base is organic rice powder and jojoba seed oil with boron nitride for that silk feel, rather than the talc most pressed powders are built on. Panthenol keeps it comfortable and a handful of organic botanical extracts sit alongside it. Vegan, gluten free, non GMO, and water resistant enough to stay put through a long warm Australian day. Brows sit right above your eyes, so it is a reasonable place to be fussy.

How to get the soft full brow

Brush your brows up first
A spoolie up and outward before anything else. You get the lifted shape immediately, and you can see where the sparse patches actually are instead of colouring the whole brow by default.

Tap the brush, then tap again
Pick up colour with an angled brush and knock most of it off before it goes near your face. Powder is far easier to add than to take away, and two light passes will always look better than one heavy one.

Start at the arch, finish at the front
Work from the arch outward through the tail where you want the most weight, and let whatever is left on the brush do the inner third. The front of the brow should always be the softest part.

Brush through, then add strokes if you want them
A spoolie pass blends everything into the hairs. If there are still visible gaps, that is the moment for a few pencil strokes on top. Powder for fullness, pencil for realism, in that order.

Which shade should I choose?
Taupe is the cooler, lighter one and suits blondes, light browns and anyone with ash toned hair. It is also the one to reach for if you want fullness without weight. Deep Brown suits dark brunettes and is beautiful layered over Taupe at the arch and tail for definition. Send me a daylight photo of your brows and I will tell you which one, or whether you would enjoy both.
Powder or pencil, which do I need?
Different jobs, and the technique that works uses both. Powder builds soft density across the whole brow so it looks fuller, with no hard edges. The pencil draws individual hair strokes into the gaps where hairs are genuinely missing. Powder first, pencil second, spoolie through to finish. If you can only have one, choose the powder if your brows are reasonably full but pale, and the pencil if they are sparse.
What brush should I use?
A small angled brush, firm rather than fluffy. The angle is what lets you follow the shape of the brow and keep the edge soft. There is one in our Luxe Makeup Brush Set, and any angled liner brush you already own will do the job perfectly well.
Is it vegan?
Yes, and cruelty free, gluten free and non GMO, with seventy per cent certified organic ingredients. Unlike our brow pencil there is no beeswax in this one at all.
Will it look too dark?
Not if you tap the brush off before you start. It is buildable by design, so the intensity is entirely in your hands. Two light passes gives soft everyday enhancement, more gives evening definition.
Will it last all day?
It is water resistant and holds beautifully through a normal day, warm weather included. For maximum staying power through swimming or a very long event, use the waterproof brow pencil for your strokes with the powder underneath.
There are botanical extracts in it. Is that alright for sensitive skin?
For most women, yes. Alongside the rice powder and jojoba there are small amounts of organic oregano, thyme, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lavender and goldenseal, there for their natural preservative and antioxidant qualities. If you know you react to botanical extracts, dab a little on your inner arm first.
