How do I pick a lipstick shade from a photo?
Start with the family rather than the exact shade. Nudes are Sheer Bliss, Naked, Flirt and Sweet as Sugar, and they suit you best when they sit a shade deeper than your own lip. Pinks are With Love, Amore, True Desire and Prim & Proper. Reds are Captive and Bayberry, one warm and one deeper. Honey Bunch is the brown and I am in Love is the plum. Lipstick, gloss or crayon?
The lipstick is the one for colour that holds, with a soft satin finish that is comfortable enough to wear every day. The gloss is for shine and cushion, lovely alone on a bare lip or layered over lipstick. The crayon does two jobs, lining and filling, which is why it is the one to take with you when you only take one thing.
Will mineral lipstick dry my lips out?
That is the usual worry and it comes from long wear formulas, which stay put precisely because they pull moisture out of your lips. Ours go the other way. The colour is carried in cupuacu seed butter and sweet almond oil, so it wears more like a tinted balm. You will reapply after a meal, and in exchange your lips are in better condition at the end of the day than at the start.
How do I make the colour last longer?
Line and fill with the crayon first, then put the lipstick over the top. The crayon gives the colour something to hold on to, so it fades evenly rather than leaving a ring. Blot once with a tissue and apply a second thin layer. Skip the gloss if you need it to last through dinner, and keep the gloss for when you want it to look beautiful for an hour.
What if my lips react to most lipsticks?
Lips are thin skin with no barrier to speak of, which is why they react so readily. There is no synthetic dye in any of these, no lake pigments and no fragrance added for the sake of it. Most long wear lipstick works by evaporating a solvent and leaving a stain film behind, which is exactly why your lips feel tight three hours later. These are built the other way around. Cupuacu seed butter and sweet almond oil carry the pigment and stay on your lips, so the wear is shorter and the comfort is far better. It is a deliberate trade and one worth understanding before you choose.
No synthetic dye, and why that matters on lips
Lip skin is thin, has almost no barrier, and you swallow a good deal of whatever you put on it. That is reason enough to care what the colour is made from. There is no synthetic dye and no lake pigment in any of these, which removes the ingredients most commonly behind a lipstick that stings, tingles or leaves lips flaking.
Three formats that work together
The crayon lines and fills, the lipstick puts colour over the top, and the gloss adds shine where you want it. Used together you get definition that does not wander, colour that fades evenly and a finish you can dial up or down. Used alone, each one still does its job, which is the point of keeping the range small enough to actually understand.
Shades chosen to span, not to fill a wall
