- Natural daylight. Standing near a window is perfect. Indoor lighting shifts your skin tone more than you would think, and bathroom lighting is the worst culprit of all.
- A bare face. Even a little base will throw the match out, so go without if you can.
- Show me your jaw and neck. Your foundation needs to disappear into your neck, so I need to see both to get it right for you.
- No filters. And try not to stand facing a bright window. Side light shows your real undertone beautifully.
It helps me enormously if you tell me which product you are looking at, whether your skin leans dry, oily or somewhere in between, and the name of any foundation you have worn happily before. Even if it is another brand. I promise I will not be offended.

How quickly will I hear back?
Usually within a day or two, and often sooner. If you are asking about a shade I try to answer the same day where I can, because I know you are probably sitting there with a basket open waiting on me.
Can you really match my shade from a photo?
Yes, and I am good at it, as long as the photo is taken in daylight with a bare face and no filter. It is far more accurate than any virtual try on, because your camera, your screen and your lighting all change the colour before a filter ever gets a look in. And if I am not confident from your photo, I will tell you honestly and suggest two samples rather than have you guess.
I have an allergy. Can you check a formulation for me?
Please do ask, I would much rather you did. Tell me exactly what you react to and I will go through the ingredient lists properly and give you an honest answer, even when that answer is that nothing in the range is right for you. Something has arrived damaged. What do I do?
Send me a photo within 5 days and I will replace it or refund you. No forms, no back and forth. I am sorry it happened at all.
Can I change or cancel my order?
If it has not gone out yet then almost certainly. Drop me a line as soon as you can and I will catch it if I still have it on the bench. Everything here is packed by hand, so there is usually a window.
How do I make sure I get the right shade?
