    Why it is different

Definition without the drawn on look

    1

    The liner nobody can see

Makeup artists call it tightlining, and it is quietly the most flattering thing you can do with a pencil. Instead of drawing a line on top of your lid, you press colour into the base of the upper lashes so it fills the tiny pale gaps between the roots. There is no line for anyone to notice. Your lashes simply look denser and your eyes look more awake, in a way people cannot put their finger on. It takes twenty seconds and it works on every eye shape there is.

    2

Soft enough to smudge, which is the point

A hard pencil gives you one look: a line. A creamy crayon gives you all of them. Draw it thick along the lash line and blur it upward with a fingertip and you have a smoky eye before your coffee is cool. Keep it fine and sharpened and it is precise instead. The oil and wax base is what allows both, and it is why it lays down colour without you having to press, which matters enormously on eyelid skin, the thinnest on your whole body.

    3

    Kind to eyes that water

Sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, fruit wax and vitamin E. No parabens, no gluten, nothing sharp or synthetic sitting against the most sensitive part of your face. If your eyes have historically objected to eyeliner, whether that is stinging, watering or going pink by lunchtime, the culprit is usually the formula rather than the liner itself. Three shades: a deep black, a soft charcoal and a warm brown, which is the one most women find easiest to wear every day.

    What it does

    The four that matter

3 shades Black Opal, Slate and Cider, in black, grey and warm brown
Tightline the twenty second trick that makes lashes look dense
Vitamin E in a base of sunflower and coconut oils
Two looks sharpen for precision, blunt it for smoke
    The ritual

How to get the most from it

    01

    Look down into a mirror

Tilt your chin up and lower your gaze rather than closing your eye. It exposes the base of the upper lashes and keeps your hand steady, which is the whole difficulty of eyeliner solved in one movement.

    02

Press into the roots, do not draw

Small dabs, working from the outer corner inward, letting the colour fill the gaps between the lash roots. You are not drawing a line, you are filling in shadow. Stop when the pale skin between the lashes has gone.

    03

For a smoky eye, go over the top and blur

Draw along the upper lash line, then smudge upward and outward with a fingertip within the first minute while it is still soft. After that it settles and stays exactly where you left it.

    04

Under the lower lashes, not in them

A soft smudge just below the lower lash line gives you all the depth of a lined waterline and keeps the delicate rim of your eye clear. Warm water and a gentle cleanser take everything off at the end of the day.

    Questions

    Anything you are wondering

    What is tightlining, exactly?

Pressing liner into the base of your upper lashes rather than drawing on top of the lid. It fills the pale gaps between the lash roots, so your lashes look thicker and your eyes look more defined with no visible line at all. It is the single most useful eye technique for anyone who wants to look more awake without looking made up, and it is why so many makeup artists reach for a soft pencil over a liquid.

    Which shade should I choose?

Cider, the warm brown, is the easiest to wear and the most flattering for most women day to day, especially on blue and green eyes. Slate is a soft charcoal that gives definition without the weight of black. Black Opal is the true black for evenings and for anyone who has always worn black and knows it suits them. Tell me your colouring and I will help you choose.

Can I use it on my lower waterline?

You can, and plenty of women do. Worth knowing though: the rim of your lower lid holds tiny glands that produce the oil layer of your tear film, and eye specialists generally suggest keeping that rim clear if you get dry eyes or wear contact lenses daily. The lovely thing is you lose nothing by smudging just underneath the lower lashes instead. It looks the same from any distance a person will ever see you.

    How long does it last?

On the lash line and lid, all day. Creamy pencils do soften on the waterline over the course of a day because that is a permanently wet surface, which is true of every oil based crayon and another reason I prefer the lash line, where it simply stays put.

    Is it vegan?

There is beeswax in this one, which is what gives it that creamy glide, so it is cruelty free, gluten free and paraben free but not vegan. Our Accelerating Mascara is fully vegan if that is what you need for your eyes.

Is it alright with contact lenses?

Generally yes, applied to the lash line rather than the waterline, and put your lenses in before your makeup goes on. If your eyes are prone to irritation, try it for a day on one eye first.

    Does it need sharpening?

Yes, and keep it fine if you want precision. It is soft by design because of the plant oils in it, so a light sharpen every few uses keeps the tip crisp. Our 2 in 1 sharpener handles this and every other pencil in your kit.

    Where is it made?

We are Australian owned and run, and our pencils are manufactured to our formulation overseas. Every order is packed and posted by us from our studio here.

    Shipping and returns within Australia?
