Light, rather than sparkle
The difference between a highlighter that flatters and one that ages you is particle size. Large reflective flecks sit on the surface and catch every bit of texture they land in. These are milled fine enough to bounce light as a sheen rather than as points of glitter, which is why it reads as skin that is well rested rather than skin wearing makeup.

Baked for 24 hours, so a powder behaves like a cream
Pressed powder is compacted dry, which is why it can sit chalky on the skin and gather in fine lines. Baking is slower. The pigment is bound with jojoba oil and set over 24 hours, so what you pick up on a brush melts on contact and blends without an edge. It is the same process behind our baked blushes, and it is the reason both wear so comfortably on mature skin.
Previously I thought my highlighter was the best, then my daughter dropped and smashed it. Little did I know she did me a favour. This highlighter is extraordinary and I'm in love with it. Will never go back now!

Two ways to wear it, and neither is only for the cheekbones
Shine Bright Like a... is a soft champagne that lifts the high points without changing your colouring. Live in the Glowment is warmer, a bronzed light that works as a highlighter on deeper skin or as an all over glow on shoulders and collarbones. Both go a very long way, which is why one compact tends to last people years.

Where the light goes

Find where the light already falls
Tilt your face toward a window and notice which parts catch light on their own. The top of the cheekbone, the brow bone, the bridge of the nose, the cupid's bow. Highlighter works by agreeing with your face, not by inventing new angles on it.

Tap it out before it touches you
The pigment is concentrated, so a brush loaded straight from the pan will put down far more than you want. Tap the excess off first and you get a sheen instead of a stripe.

Blend along the bone, not across the cheek
Sweep it up and back toward the temple, following the line of the cheekbone. Blending downward drags the light into the middle of the face, which flattens rather than lifts.

Then check it in daylight
Bathroom light is unforgiving and rarely accurate. Have a look by a window before you decide whether you want more, and remember you can always build. Taking it back off is the hard part.

Which of the two shades should I choose?
Shine Bright Like a... is a soft champagne and suits most people, because it adds light without adding colour. Live in the Glowment is warmer and bronzed, which is lovely on deeper or olive skin and lovely again on anyone wanting a sun-warmed glow rather than a cool one. Send me a selfie in daylight and I will tell you which I would pick for you.
Will it emphasise my fine lines or pores?
This is the right question to ask of any highlighter, and it is why particle size matters so much. Large glitter particles settle into texture and draw attention to it. These are milled fine and bound with jojoba oil, so the finish is a sheen rather than sparkle. Keep it to the top of the cheekbone and the brow bone rather than sweeping it across the cheek and it flatters rather than exposes.
How much should I use?
Less than you think, and always tap the brush out first. The pigment is concentrated, so a light hand gives you a lit-from-within look and a heavy hand gives you a stripe. Build in thin layers and check it by a window.
What is baked mineral, and why does it matter?
Rather than compacting the powder dry, the pigment is blended with jojoba oil and slowly set over 24 hours. That gives a powder the texture of a cream, so it melts into skin instead of sitting on top of it. It is the same process as our baked blushes.
Can I wear it anywhere other than my face?
Yes, and quite a few of my customers do. Swept along the collarbone and the tops of the shoulders it gives a lovely all over glow, and Live in the Glowment in particular is beautiful for that.
Will it work over mineral powder foundation?
Beautifully. Powder over powder can look flat, and a touch of light on the high points is exactly what brings the face back to life. Apply it last, after your foundation and blush.
What brush should I use?
A small, tapered or fan shaped brush gives you the most control, because it lets you place the light precisely along the bone. A larger brush works if you want a softer, more diffused glow, just tap it out well first.
How long will one compact last?
A very long time. You use so little each application that customers regularly tell me they are still working through the same compact years later.
