Centella asiatica has been used on skin for centuries, and the research has caught up with why. Its active compounds, asiaticoside and madecassoside, are among the best studied botanicals for the appearance of firmness. A six month study measured the things that actually matter to you: wrinkle depth, suppleness, firmness and hydration. It found significant improvement across all four. An oil that disappears into your skin
The base is camellia seed oil, chosen rather than convenient. Its structure sits remarkably close to the oil your own skin makes, which is why it sinks in instead of sitting on top the way heavier oils do. Alongside it, seabuckthorn kernel extract carries omega 7, a fatty acid almost no plant provides, and jojoba, shea and safflower keep the barrier fed. Rich enough to do the work overnight, light enough to wear under sunscreen in the morning.

Made here, and lovely to put on
Australian made in small batches, vegan, gluten free, and organic through the oils that make up most of the bottle. The scent is not fragrance. It is mandarin peel, neroli and pink lotus absolute, three of the most beautiful botanicals to work with, and it is the reason women describe using this as something they look forward to rather than something they remember to do. A routine you enjoy is a routine you keep.

How to get the most from it

Two or three drops, warmed first
Into your palms, rub them together, then bring them to your face. Warming an oil before it touches skin helps it spread and absorb, and it turns a step into something that feels like a moment.

Press it in, and include your neck
Press your palms over the face and sweep upward and outward, then down over the neck and décolletage. Those two show loss of firmness earlier than the face does and get attention last, which is exactly the wrong way round.

Last at night, under SPF in the morning
At night it goes on after your serum and moisturiser, sealing everything beneath it. In the morning let it absorb fully, then sunscreen over the top. It is light enough for both.

Or borrow a drop for your foundation
Warm one drop into your liquid foundation on the back of your hand before you apply it. You get a softer, more luminous finish and the coverage still holds. A very old makeup artist trick, and it costs you nothing.

Should I choose this or the Luminous Kiss face oil?
They do genuinely different jobs, so it is worth a moment. Age-Defy Elixir is the treatment oil, with gotu kola and seabuckthorn working on firmness and renewal over weeks and months. Luminous Kiss is the glow oil, jojoba and walnut with a whisper of gold mica, for immediate radiance and for mixing into foundation. If you want your skin to change, this one. If you want it to shine tonight, that one. Plenty of my customers own both and use the elixir at night and Luminous Kiss in the morning.
Will an oil break me out?
Camellia and jojoba are among the least likely to. Jojoba in particular is structurally closer to a wax than an oil and mirrors your own sebum, which is why it suits congestion prone skin far better than most people expect. If you are actively breaking out, the Balancing Vitamin B Serum is the better place to start and you can come back to this.
How long until I see a difference?
Comfort and glow arrive in the first few days, which is the oils feeding the barrier. The firmness and smoothing that gotu kola works on are a longer story, and the clinical work measured meaningful change over months rather than weeks. Take a photograph now in the same light, and be kind to yourself about the timeline.
Do I still need a moisturiser?
Oils and moisturisers do different things. An oil seals and feeds, a moisturiser brings water. If your skin is dry rather than dehydrated you may be perfectly happy with this alone. If it feels tight as well as dry, use the Rejuvenating Peptide Moisturiser underneath and the elixir over the top to hold it in.
There are citrus oils in it. Will that make me sun sensitive?
Mandarin peel and neroli are the two citrus botanicals here, and both are considered non-phototoxic, unlike bergamot or expressed lime, which are the ones that cause trouble. They sit at a low level for the scent. Wear your sunscreen every morning as you would anyway, but you do not need to avoid this oil during the day.
Can I use it with my Vitamin A serum?
Yes, and it is a lovely pair. Vitamin A serum first on clean skin, then the elixir over the top once it has absorbed. The oils make the vitamin A a good deal more comfortable while your skin is settling in, which is why so many customers end up buying both.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
There is nothing in this formula that appears on the standard avoid lists, but I am not able to give medical advice. Show the ingredient list to your GP or midwife and follow what they tell you. For reference, the one product I ask you to set aside while pregnant or breastfeeding is the Enriching Vitamin A Serum.
Will it sit under makeup?
Yes, given a minute or two to absorb properly. It is light for an oil and leaves no slick. If your foundation ever slides, the cause is almost always applying it before the skincare underneath has settled.
