The jar, the sifter and the lid are built to last years. Buying them all over again every time you run out of powder is the bit that never made sense to me, so this is the powder on its own.
It is not a lesser version and it is not an older batch. It is exactly the same air light mineral formula, with SPF 20+, no talc, no bismuth oxychloride and no fillers, in exactly the same twelve shades. The only difference is what it arrives in.

How to Refill Your Jar
Tip any powder left in your jar into the refill pouch first so nothing is wasted. Lift the sifter disc out with a fingernail or the tip of a teaspoon and keep it, because it goes straight back in. Pour the new powder in slowly, over the sink, tipping rather than tapping, because mineral powder is fine and it travels. Press the sifter back down until it sits flat, screw the lid on, and you are done. It takes about a minute.

How to refill your jar

Empty what is left
Tip any remaining powder from your jar into the refill pouch first, so nothing is wasted, then set the jar aside.

Lift out the sifter
The sifter disc pops out with a fingernail or the tip of a teaspoon. Keep it, you are putting it straight back.

Pour slowly, over the sink
Mineral powder is fine and it travels. Tip it in gently rather than tapping, and do it somewhere easy to wipe down.

Press the sifter back in
Click it back down until it sits flat, screw the lid on, and you are done. It takes about a minute.

Do I need to already own a jar?
Yes. The refill is powder only, so you will need the jar, sifter and lid from a full size Mineral Foundation Powder. If this is your first time with us, start with the full size and refill it from then on.
Is the powder any different?
Not in any way. Same formula, same SPF 20+, same twelve shades, same amount of product. The only thing missing is the jar you already have.
How do I get it into the jar without wearing it?
Do it over the sink, tip rather than tap, and pour slowly. Lift the sifter disc out first with a fingernail, pour the powder in, then press the disc back down until it sits flat. It takes about a minute and there is almost no mess if you go gently.
Can I use a refill in a different brand's jar?
If the jar takes loose mineral powder and has a sifter, usually yes. It is your jar and I am not going to be precious about it. Just check the capacity is similar so you are not left with powder you cannot fit in.
How much do I actually save?
Twenty dollars against the full size, every single time you refill. If you get through two or three a year, that adds up nicely without you having to think about it.
My shade is not showing in the refill
Some shades sell out faster than others. Leave your email on the shade you want and I will tell you the moment it is back, and the full size is available in every shade in the meantime.
Is it really better for the environment?
Modestly, and honestly that is the right word. You are keeping one jar and sifter in use instead of adding another to the pile each time. A small saving repeated often rather than a dramatic one, which is usually how these things actually work.
