How to use it

Start with a damp face
Splash yourself with warm water first. It helps the cleanser spread and foam properly, and you will feel the difference straight away.

Small circles, about thirty seconds
One pump is plenty. Massage it in gently and let it foam. No need to press hard at all, the enzymes are doing the work while your hands simply move them around.

Rinse warm and pat dry
Warm rather than hot keeps everything comfortable. Pat your face dry instead of rubbing and your skin will thank you for it.

Once a week, add crystals
Tip a little of our Exfoliating Vitamin C Crystals into the cleanser in your palm for a deeper polish. More cleanser for a soft polish, more crystals for a proper resurface, so the strength is entirely in your hands.

Anything you are wondering
Will it leave my skin tight and stripped?
No, and that is the whole reason we made it. There are no sulphates in here, which is what causes that squeaky, tight feeling in most foaming cleansers. It still foams beautifully, just softly, and your skin feels comfortable afterwards rather than in need of rescuing.
Can I use it twice a day?
Yes, and most of our customers do. Enzymes work quite differently to acid exfoliants, so morning and night suits most skin perfectly well. If your skin is very dry at the moment, start with nights only and build up. There is no rush.
Will it take my makeup off?
It lifts mineral foundation, blush and everyday makeup comfortably. For heavy or waterproof eye makeup, take that off first with an oil or a balm and then cleanse, which is far kinder to the skin around your eyes.
Do I still need a scrub as well?
No, and that is rather the point of it. The fruit enzymes exfoliate gently every single day, which is far kinder to your barrier than a harsh scrub once a week. When you want a deeper clean, tip a little of our Exfoliating Vitamin C Crystals into the cleanser in your palm and massage it in. More cleanser for a soft polish, more crystals for a proper resurface. Once or twice a week is plenty, and the two come together as the Cleanse & Exfoliate Duo.
Will it help with congestion and blackheads?
Yes, and white willow bark is the reason. It is a natural source of salicylates, which is exactly what congested skin responds to, and our customers with breakout prone skin do very well on it. Use it morning and night and give it a few weeks to show you what it can do.
Is it gentle enough if I react to everything?
This is precisely who I made it for. There are no sulphates, no abrasive grit and no harsh additives, and every review it has comes from women who describe their own skin as sensitive. If you have a known trigger, patch test on your jawline first, and do email me if you would like to talk it through before you order. I am always happy to.
Is it safe to use during pregnancy?
There is nothing in this cleanser that is a recognised risk in something you rinse off. Willow bark is sometimes queried because salicylic acid is restricted in pregnancy, but topical willow bark is not the same molecule and is not treated the same way. The one product in our range we ask you to avoid while pregnant or breastfeeding is the Enriching Vitamin A Serum, and that is flagged clearly on its own page. We are not able to give medical advice, so if you have any doubt, show your midwife or GP the ingredient list and go with what they tell you.
