Why it is different

Simple, and quietly essential

One per cent, and nothing else in the way

1 of 3

One per cent, and nothing else in the way

Purified water, one per cent vegan hyaluronic acid, and an organic radish root ferment that keeps the bottle fresh. That is all of it. One per cent is not a modest number, it is the number formulators aim for. Hyaluronic acid does everything it can do in the one to two per cent range, and push much beyond that and it turns tacky, pills under makeup and stops absorbing properly. So this is full strength, with nothing sitting between you and the ingredient you came for.

Love it, love it, love it! My 47 year old skin just soaks this goodness up!

Damp skin, then seal. That is the whole technique.

2 of 3

Damp skin, then seal. That is the whole technique.

Hyaluronic acid works by holding onto water, and a single gram can hold up to a thousand times its own weight in it. Give it a damp face to work with and it locks that moisture at the surface where you want it. Then put your moisturiser or a few drops of face oil straight over the top and it stays there all day instead of evaporating into the air conditioning. Two seconds of technique, and it is the difference between a serum that works and one that disappoints.

The layer everything else sits better on

3 of 3

The layer everything else sits better on

Hydrated skin is fuller, so it reflects light more evenly and the fine lines that come from dryness soften out. Moisturiser spreads further. Foundation stops finding every dry patch and clinging to it. This is why it belongs at the start of your routine rather than as an extra. It is not the star of the show, it is the thing that makes the rest of the show look good.

How to get the most from it

01

Leave your face damp

Cleanse or mist, then do not reach for the towel. A face that is still slightly wet is exactly what hyaluronic acid wants to work with, and this one step does more for your results than anything else on this page.

02

One or two pumps, pressed in

Press it over the face and neck with your palms rather than rubbing it around. You should feel your skin plump slightly as it goes on. That is the point.

03

Seal it within a minute

Moisturiser or a few drops of face oil straight over the top, while the serum is still fresh on your skin. This is what keeps the water where you put it, particularly in dry air, heating or air conditioning.

04

Morning and night

It goes first in your routine, before heavier serums and creams. There is nothing it clashes with, so you can use it every day for as long as you like.

Questions

Anything you are wondering

How much hyaluronic acid is actually in it?

One per cent, which is full strength for a serum like this. The useful range for topical hyaluronic acid is one to two per cent, and that is where it delivers everything it is capable of. Above that you gain very little and start losing a great deal: it turns tacky, pills under makeup and becomes harder for skin to absorb. A bigger number on the front of a bottle is not a better serum, it is usually just a stickier one.

Why does it go on damp skin?

Because hyaluronic acid is a humectant, so it holds water rather than supplying it. Applied to a damp face it grabs that surface moisture and keeps it there. Damp skin, then a moisturiser over the top to seal, and you get the full benefit every single time. It is the one habit worth learning.

Is three ingredients really enough?

For this job, yes. Hydration is one of the few things in skincare where a single well chosen ingredient at the right strength does the work and everything else is decoration. Keeping the list this short is what makes it safe for reactive skin and easy to layer with the rest of your routine.

Will it soften my fine lines?

The ones that come from dehydration, yes, and often within minutes, because plump skin simply does not crease the same way. Lines with more structure behind them respond to renewal over time, which is what the Enriching Vitamin A Serum is for. Many of my customers use both: this one first for hydration, then the vitamin A at night.

Can I use it with my other serums?

Yes, with all of them. This is the easiest product in the range to fit into a routine. It goes on first, it clashes with nothing, and it makes whatever follows spread more easily. Vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin A, any moisturiser you like.

My skin is oily. Would a hydrating serum suit me?

Very often, yes. Oily and dehydrated at the same time is one of the most common combinations I see, and skin short of water frequently produces more oil to compensate. A water light serum like this gives it hydration without a drop of oil, which is exactly what that skin is asking for.

Does it contain fragrance?

None at all. No fragrance, no essential oils, no colour. Three ingredients is the whole list, which is why this is the serum I suggest first when someone tells me their skin has been reacting to everything.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Hyaluronic acid is not on the standard avoid lists and this is about as simple a formula as exists, but I am not able to give medical advice, so do show the ingredient list to your GP or midwife. The one product I ask you to set aside while pregnant or breastfeeding is the Enriching Vitamin A Serum.

Will it sit under makeup?

Beautifully, and dehydrated skin is the usual culprit when foundation clings or looks patchy. Apply to damp skin, seal with your moisturiser, give it a minute or two, then your base.

Where is it made?

Australia. Our entire skincare range is made here to professional grade standards in small batches, and it is vegan and cruelty free. Every order is packed and posted by us from our studio.

Shipping and returns within Australia?

$9.95 standard, free on orders $99 and above, express $15. Packed and posted by us from our studio here. Returns are for damaged or faulty items, reported within 5 days.

Need a hand?

Ask me anything about your skin, before or after you order. I read and answer these myself, so you get a real answer from someone who has been through it.
